When You Need Surgery

Surgery can improve a wide range of physical conditions and problems. Yet surgery is not usually the first treatment of choice (except in emergency situations). Doctors have typically recommended behavior changes first, such as diet and exercise or other medicines, before exposing their FVII-deficient patients to the risks associated with surgery. But treatment advances may make these decisions easier to make.

If surgery has been recommended for you, it is wise to learn as much as possible about what the surgery will mean for you. When it comes to bleeding disorders, undergoing any invasive procedure should be heavily considered in terms of risk and benefit.
